There Is No Food In Christian Heaven?
My Christian friend hands me a bowl of her delicious biryani. She learned to cook from her mom back in Pakistan. It is really something.
“I bet this is the kinda food they serve in heaven,” I say.
She shakes her head, “there is no food in heaven.”
“How can there not be food in heaven?”
“Because there is no hunger in heaven.”
“I don’t always eat because I’m hungry,” I laugh.
She laughs back and hurries away. She has five kids. She only knocked on my door to give food. Sometimes when all the kids are sleeping we chat longer.
I sit in my kitchen, eat the biryani, and think.
So in heaven you just float around doing nothing?
No biryani? No chocolate? No sushi? No birthday or deathday cake? Come on!
The Greek gods had ambrosia. Are you telling me there is no ambrosia in Christian heaven? Even on special occasions?
Now I know why it was called the last supper.
Are there any other heavens that have food?
Because this has me less stoked about the afterlife.
“What about the place down there?” I ask her next time.
