How Do We Punish Clap And Runners, AI Bots, And Other Medium Miscreants?
I Got Some Ideas
I know what you are thinking: We should bring back public floggings!
Indeed, you are correct. Unfortunately, passing the legislation for this would be a nightmare.
So what can be done?
Perhaps we can take a snapshot of their profile, and write a blog post revealing them and shaming them, and sharing their picture on every platform, as well as printing it out and pinning it up on a bulletin board in the post office?
That sounds fantastic. But here is the thing: Most of those profiles are fake. The image may be AI, or it may be an image of a different person. It may be an image stolen from Facebook. Some mom who innocently shares pictures of her muffins. “Hey Sheena, your pic is in the post office, it says that the people of Medium are after you, what did you do to their muffins?” Imagine poor Sheena’s surprise. You can’t do that to Sheena.
Perhaps we can clap and run back at them? We go on every story, stay for 5.2 seconds, then leave! The algo will snuff them like the slimies they are.
Perhaps we can simply confront them? But should that be done on their profile? This will just boost their engagement, of which unworthy they are.
