Don’t Expect A Spiritual Or Philosophical Writer To Be 100% On The Ball
Have you ever found yourself reading a new piece from a favorite author and thinking:
This part is so far out, how could they logically go there?
How could they miss this mistake? I thought they were smarter.
If they think this, then obviously they aren’t enlightened enough!
When one thinks a lot, when one writes a lot, inevitably one makes errors. The biggest thinkers have made errors. Even big ones.
Writers make more writing mistakes than non writers. Olympic figure skaters fall on the ice more than me. But they are way more likely than me to nail a double jump.
The more you think, the more you write, the more errors.
You go through a process of refinement. You fraction yourself into different opponents and argue with yourself as different people. Overtime your thinking and your writing gets better. But sometimes things get missed. Premises get taken as given. Old ingrained biases influence developing ideas.
Then there are revelatory downloads that come in big chunks. They feel perfect and get written down and published sans scrutiny due to excitement.
